Gooooooooood day everyone out there in cyber space :D
So my hiatus is officially over as I announced on my page, which seemed like it would never end.
I spent the last couple of months considering what to start work on first because I had so many ideas just bursting out of me!
Until I finally narrowed it down to three: Elsa (Frozen), Catwoman (new Sideshow Collectable) and Wonder Woman (DCUO Trailer)
I'm about halfway through Elsa and have everything I need to make the other two so far :D I've also been posting progress with Wonder Woman because I'm super excited to be using Worbla for the first time.
I was extremely hesitant using Worbla for the first time because of how complex the finished product seems to look, but it wasn't too bad.
I started out by creating my arm armour out of one layer just to get used to working with it and learn how to shape.
Then I used the 'sandwich method' and put a layer of foam between two layers of Worbla. Pretty happy with the result :D
Still got a long way to go, pretty sure I'll have to order more Worbla as well :\
All of my tips for working with Worbla have come from the books of Svetlana Quindt which are a MUST for anyone considering to work with it.
These books are only $5 each for a downloadable file, or $20 each for printed copies. Pretty cheap considering the amount of help this lovely lady has put into the pages.
Now the reason this hiatus went on so long, is because I'm in the process of moving to a new house so I'm temporarily crashing with my parents.
This move was supposed to be completed early January but because of tons of setbacks, the keys were only handed over to me a few days ago. I've tried my hardest to start costume work while I'm in limbo, but there's only so much I can do while most of my equipment is in boxes.
The day has finally come though! because work took away my day off to move properly, I have been slowly moving boxes over to the new house each day and tomorrow is the last day of moving YAY! :D
Before ANYTHING else is set up, my costume workshop will be set up with everything I originally had, and what I've bought since starting the move :P
I hope to have one of my three costumes all finished up for you guys soon and to find a photographer to help me out :)
Keep on sewing!
Jess xoxo
